Recap of the Convention

Well, now that I have gotten some sleep and have somewhat recovered from the trip, I think I will post a recap of my time going to, at the Convention and coming back.

Saturday:  Traveling there was an adventure.   Taking the Amtrak to Chicago on the Lincoln Service from Alton was fun.  I got up in the wee hours and had to catch the train at 7:15 a.m.   And then changing to the Empire Builder to go to Minneapolis St Paul.   When I eventually arrived I caught a cab and gave him the address, but it was the wrong address and drove around in circles for a while.  eventually I just got dropped off in Downtown Minneapolis.  And finally got a hold of Chad, and eventually got the right directions to Cneterfield.   I missed a big Vets For Freedom event there since  got there at midnight.  But oh well I got there.  And I met Chad, the Cyber Pastor and his wife Anne, Eric G of Tygrrrr Express , Dr. Bill of ARRA and Let’s Get This Right and Sheridan Folger (The Mad Irishman) from Let’s Get this Right.

Stixblog Sunday:   After sleeping on the floor in Centerfield and waking up aroud noon or so, we went and got my Blogger Credentials.  And then went to see Lee Greenwood sing and then went to see the movie An America Carol by Zucker.  I recommend going to see it, it is hilarious.   Later on when I got back to Centerfield, Steveegg and Shoebox from No Runny Eggs came down to visit us.  We had fun talking and I think that we should start the Drunk Blog Talk Radio show, you need to have been ddrinking to call in or host the show.

Day1_2 Monday:   Some were upset that the first day was cut short because of the Hurricane that was heading towards New Orleans.  So It would seem the day would be boring.  Well, it was not all bad.  We got to see waht the Xcel Center looked like and find the Media File Room where we can get internet access. We also found out the section we were seated at is behind the stage.   So we went around and looked at the Xcel center and I finally got to meet Skye.  She was on the floor when  we first talked.  And after the delegates left and we can go down to the floor everyone got pictures next to their state delegeate section.   And It was interesting to see what the floor looked like.
Later in te night we were waiting for a bus to bring us back to a hotel next to where we were staying, but they were not running since the Convention was cut back.  Me and Eric G were about to get a taxi, but the police officers that we there said they would bring us back home.  But not in the patrol car, it was a minivan.

Day2 Tuesday.  Tuesday was more fun, I got to see Fred Thompson up close at a Blogger Brunch, but we arrived a little late.  But Skye got some pretty good video of Fred.  Then me and Skye went to the Vets For Freedom evnt and saw some really good speakers ans saw Jon Voight, Orson Swindle, Lindsay Graham, Bud Day and Steve Russel.  and met the American Samoa delegation.  All fun times.   Then we caught some of the speeches in the Media Filing Room.

Day3 Wednesday    I pretty much spent most of the day in the Media Filing room and tried to mpost some stuff, but was too busy and tired to really post much.  We stayed up until 4 a.m. pretty much every day since we stayed in a bar that closed at 2 a.m.   I listened to all the speeches in the Media Filing Room until Sarah Palin’s speech.  I went up to the nosebleed sections and stood and watched the speech.  I thought that her speech was the best of the whole Convention.  And of course the Code Pinkos got into the building to disrupt her speech, but were quickly taken out of the building.

Day4 Thursday  this was the most fun of the whole week.  I got a lock for the lockers in the Media Filing room so I did not have to take the Laptop everywhere I was going.  My shoulders were hurting me from carryin that bag around the whole day.   It was me, Skye and John from Marathon Pundit that walking around downtown St. Paul.  So many interesting sites.  You can check out some of the wildlife on both of their blogs.  And then we went to find the protesters.  And when we were close to the Capitol, we got engulfed by the protesters.   It was fun for a while until someone thru a rock at a police horse, and I started to smell bleach, earlier in the week some delegates were doused with bleach and had to go to the hospital.  We enventually got to the other side of the highway after not being able to crass 3 bridges.   Aroundd the spot we crossed was where the chaos happened later in the night.  280 or so were arrested and tear gass was shot.    Back at the Xcel Center we watched McCain’s speech i the upper deck again.

Afterwords we went to the freeloaders place for free drinks and finger food.  It was sponsored by Capatain Morgan and eventually they ran out of the Captain.  It was fun mingling woth everyone there, but me and Chad left somewhat early and went back to his house.

Friday.   I helped Chad feed his chickens and cats, and had fun paying with the cats his dog Daisy. It reminded me of when I lived in Freeburg and had many animals.  I also started to scan some of the guides and other swag we got for being at the Convention,

Saturday.  I did not go to sleep on Friday, since we were going to leave to get me to the Amtrak at 3:30.  And we had to wait a little for the train to arrive it was a little late.  And while on the train i sat next to a talkitive fellow that was meeting his girlfriend in Michigan and was going to ask her to mery her.      I got some sleep in between St Cloud and Chicago.  Then got on the train to go back to Alton and watched Braveheart on the laptop since they had power strips on that train.

All in all I had a blast and wold love to fo it again.  I met some good people and probably most will be friends for life.   I have a place to staty in LA, Philly, Indiana, Minnesota, and many other places.

I know I hace left things I did and pelple I met out of this post, but I wanted to just post about the main experience that I had for the Convention.  I know I do not remember names and some of the interesting sites I have seen in St. Paul and at Centerfield.  I am sure over the next week and some weeks to come I will probably post some more of what went down at the Convention.  The week went by in a blur and I will need to let some things settle in.  I have a strange way of remembering things later, so be on the look out for some more posts of the time I had at the Convention.   I am still tired and still need tome to recuperate, especially from Thurs night’s post party at the Captain Morgan spot.   Woo, Captain and Johnny Walker Black is not a good combination.
