That is what the Heritage Foundation Young President’s Club asked Robert Bluey and Mary Katherine Ham to discuss. This is a long video, almost an hour long, so give yourself some time to watch it. I think that they came up with some very good solutions to how to get the conservative message to the younger voters, who overwhelmingly voted for Obama.
Tell me what you think???
Sphere: Related ContentI am just wondering, does Obama still think that Iran is not a threat???? It is too small right??? Well, with all the talks with Iran and the EU, Iran is still chugging away at making a nuclear weapon. When are we in the West going to figure out that Iran and most Muslim countries will lie to us and do it with a straight face??? It is part of their culture to lie to the infidel. NOW that Obama is President (or in the office of President-Elect), what will he do??? Is he going to have tea and biscuits with Iamanutjob , or will he finally figure out that they are a threat to the whole Middle East??? It is not looking good that he will do anything other than whatBubba did while in the White House (no, not get hummers while talking to diplomats), but send out the law after the terrorists and thug in chiefs. As we have seen, that does not work and only emboldens the them to do more. Pretty soonwe are going to have Al Queda in our court rooms, because the Loonies on the Left do not like Club Gitmo.
We are in perilous times and need a leader, not the “Present” President. Obama is going to have some tough decisions to make. And hopefully for all of us he will make good ones. But With the people he has surrounding him, I find it hard to believe he will. He has a whole lot of Clintonistas in his camp now,and we all saw what Bubba did to our military and foreign policy.

Interesting post at the Media Blog on NRO:
Don’t Call It ‘Camelot’ [Greg Pollowitz]
An insight from MB reader Julia.
In reference to this quote from this post on the latest Kurtz column . . .
“Those of us too young to have known JFK’s Camelot are going to have our own giddy Camelot II to enrapture and entertain us,” Kurt Andersen writes.
. . . Julia responds:
I’m old enough to remember that it wasn’t called “Camelot” until after JFK was shot.
It was “Camelot” because it was tragically cut short. People need to think about what they are wishing on Obama.
I’m the “Julia” mentioned in the piece. Thank you, thank you, hold the applause.
Sphere: Related ContentOver the past few years, pirates off the coast of Somalia have been getting bolder and bolder in their attacks. the latest one was the taking of a Saudi tanker. The Malaccan Straights I still think is the pirate capitol of the world, but the coast of Somalia is coming up fast. Earlier This year, a ship containing who knows what, was captured by the pirates off the coast, and many died of unknown causes. Russia, India, and the United States all have a naval presence in the area, but the piracy continues.
It is no wonder that the pirates are coming from the part of Somalia controlled by the Islamic Courts Union, an affiliate with Al Queda. Obama and the next administration are going to have to deal with this. This is disrupting trade, along with piracy off the coast of India.
Today’s pirates are no different than the Pirates of the Caribbean or the Asians of the past. They are in it for themselves and to get the most out of whatever they steal from the ships they take over. This is going to have to havehelp from all over the world. Just as the eradication of the pirates in their hay day.

The top US military officer said Monday he was “stunned” by the reach of the Somali pirates who seized a Saudi supertanker off the east coast of Africa, calling piracy a growing problem that needs to be addressed. But Admiral Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said there were limits to what the world’s navies could do once a ship has been captured because national governments often preferred to pay pirates ransom.
“I’m stunned by the range of it, less so than I am the size,” Mullen said of the seizure of the Sirius Star Sunday by armed men.
The huge, oil laden prize, which is three times the size of a US aircraft carrier, was some 450 miles east of Kenya when it was boarded, he said.
That is the farthest out at sea that a ship has been seized in the latest surge of piracies, according to Mullen.
The pirates, he said, are “very good at what they do. They’re very well armed. Tactically, they are very good.”—BREITBART
At least that is what the Guardian UK is saying. I am beginning to wonder if an Obama administration is going to be more of a Clinton II administration rather than a Dhimmi Carter II administration. Obama has 31 of the 47 Move.gov advisers are Clintonistas . I am just wondering why he is doing this, and what the people that voted for him are going to say???? They voted against Hillary in the Primaries and wanted someone other than a Clinton in the White House. But Obama is tapping all of Clinton lackeys and insiders for all his Change. Does that seem like change to you????

Hillary Clinton to accept Obama’s offer of secretary of state job

Hillary Clinton plans to accept the job of secretary of state offered by Barack Obama, who is reaching out to former rivals to build a broad coalition administration, the Guardian has learned.
Obama’s advisers have begun looking into Bill Clinton’s foundation, which distributes millions of dollars to Africa to help with development, to ensure that there is no conflict of interest. But Democrats do not believe that the vetting is likely to be a problem.—Guardian UK
Not to sat that only Obama voters are not informed, but the American Public is very uniformed about policies of the candidates. This is not just on one side of the aisle, but this is a good interpretation of how people get their news about the candidates. The Media drives what people think is truth, and willfully neglect to show both sides evenly. And I am not only picking on Obama supporters, but to not know who runs CONgress, who Reid or Pelosi is is unbelievable.
Here is the sample from Zogby poll to go along with this video.
512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points
97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates
Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions
57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing)
81.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing)
82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing)
88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing)
56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing).
And yet…..
Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes
Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter
And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her “house,” even though that was Tina Fey who said that!!
Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct.
Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we “gave” one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey)
The Republicans need to find a way to get their information out there. And the best way to do that is to use the New Media; blogs, talk radio and social networks. We need to get all Conservatives to go out and get the message across to people.
Sphere: Related ContentAlright now that I have the blog all set up, it is time to get to business. I have not really posted too much on politics in my transition from Typepad to here, so I thought I would do a post about my thoughts on the political landscape.
We now have Obama as President and we should be gracious and respect him on his win. He has a great campaign and was not rattled by anything. And the MSM and Elite in Washington gave him him a pass on his associations and his past. So we must get over that. We should not get into the same Obama bashing that the Left has done, we are better than that. Not to say we should give him a pass or not go after his policies, but we need to go after the policies and how they are destructive to our way of life. The taxes that Obama wants to implement will had a negative effect on the economy. His policies will bring us closer to Eurabia (European Union) standards which have been in decline over the past few decades. Their unemployment is much higher than ours and their socialistic policies have been a drag on their economies.
Do I think Obama will be able to drag us into a Socialistic government as the EU??? No I think that too many of the new Democratic CONgressmen elected will not let that happen. They are much more conservative or centrist than Obama, so he will not be able to enact many of his programs. But will he bring us closer to the Eurabia midel??? Yes.
And as the minority Party we as conservatives need to try and stop his leftward direction he wants to bring our country.
How to do that???? We need to take the total different direction that th Left did with Bush. We do not need to demonize Obama as the Left has done to Bush. It is destructive and does not bring the country together. What we need is to explain Conservatism so everyone will see it as the better way to go than Liberalism. Our country has been divided for dar too long.
We on the Conservative side need to show how Conservatism is better. Not just to say that the Left is always wrong . We need to learn from Obama and his campaign on how to inspire the country on the Conservative path. Onbama has done a great job in inspiring people to his cause. Not that is it the right cause, but that it is a cause that people can follow and believe in.
What do we as Conservatives need to do to inspire people to our cause??? Well, that is the million dollar question. The so-called conservative party (Republicans) have become Democrat Lite, and have left the core principles of Conservatism in the dust. When they had power, they squandered it by spending like drunken sailors and left Conservatives in a conundrum. Do we vote for the Democrat lite or not vote at all. And as we have seen, the conservatives stayed at home the last 2 elections.
So what are we suppose to do as conservatives???? Start a new Party???? Reform the Republicans??? Well, that is what this and many of the blogs and forums and groups that I have joined are trying to figure out. I think that the 3rd party is not going to work. It only hurts our cause more than helps. Others might think differently, but that is my opinion and many of my friends’ opinions. I am not going to castigate someone that voted for a 3rd party candidate, that is your own choice. But it s not helpful, unless you get more support.
I think that the best way is to start locally and work your way up. Start with local candidates that are conservative and then bring them up to state and then national level. And I know that along with where I live that is going to be hard, we have not had a Republican here in 40 years, but that i where we need to start. But we need to find local diamonds in the rough that can do up the latter and hold true to the Conservative cause.
This is just my little opinion on what the Republicans need to do. Will they follow??? I have no idea, but me and my friends at Grizzly Groundswell, and many other adventures that I am in are trying to do just that. I and my friends can not do it alone. We need everyone that is on the Conservative side to join in this fight and get involved. Join in local politics, school boards and local government. This is going to take time and effort from everyone.
Just my 2 cents
Sphere: Related ContentJohn Hawkins examines a National Review piece by James Gimpel. Here is a bit of the flavor of Gimpel’s work:
A campaign doesn’t move toward them [centrist or moderate voters], but instead attempts to inspire them to come in the candidate’s direction. The incoherent center moves to the left or to the right, inspired by the candidate’s enthusiasm and the enthusiasm of his supporters. It is foolish for the candidate to move to the center, because the center is never a fixed position to move toward.
Moving centrists toward one’s candidacy is not a process that hinges on taking the right policy stands, either. Instead, it involves the enthusiasm and social contagion that builds around exciting candidates. We know from several volumes of political-science research that less-informed voters commonly substitute someone else’s judgment for their own. That someone else is often a spouse, workmate, or neighbor knowledgeable and enthusiastic about one of the candidates. Support for a candidate spreads through social influence processes.
I believe the case could be made that moving toward the center does nothing more than move the center. When either the left or right changes their focus those in the middle also shift so that they remain in the “center”. Conversely, moving toward your base could, I believe, move the center in your direction as well.
Here is Hawkin’s take as it relates to the Republican party:
The GOP no longer has the courage of their conservative principles and so, on many of their core principles, they offer up nothing but mush.
In other words, we’re a small government, cost cutting, law and order, party of the middle class and honest government that supports big government, ever increasing deficits, illegal immigration, tolerates corruption, and doesn’t offer much to the middle class.
People wonder why small government and cutting deficit spending doesn’t appear to be all that popular with the American people right now. Well, could it be because the same Republican politicians who are talking up “small government” have brought us large deficits, the Medicare Prescription Drug benefit, and are nationalizing our banks as part of a ridiculous, unnecessary bailout?
If the Republicans in Washington don’t even believe in their own party’s principles, is it any surprise that moderates don’t either?
No, it’s not.
