Aftermath

Last night (Tues) was an interesting night for the Conservative Movement. For the most part it was a good night, with some setbacks. Last night the Conservatives won 2 out of 3 of the major elections the country was watching. The only loss was in NY 23, when Bill Owens beat Doug Hoffman for the special election. But overall the Conservatives did well in many local state elections, and state wide elections

Was this a repudiation of Obama??? Well I think is is yes and no. Yes, inthe fact that many Independents elected Conservatives because of the economy. The policies that Obama has put forth have not taken us out of the Recession that he “inherited”. If nothing else most of them made things worse. So in some ways it was elections based on Obama’s presidency. But on the other hand there was much to say about local and state politics that affected the elections. Corzine and the Democrats in New Jersey have been affected by the arrests of many Democrats in a state run on corruption. Without these big time arrests would Christie have won??? That is hard to say.

There will be much debate over what really happened in NY 23. Hoffman was a little known entity just a few weeks ago. Before the Conservative bloggers and new media (73 Wire) arrived on the seen, Hoffman was running in 3rd place at 20%. After all is said and done, he got around 46%, after much attention. It goes to show that when Conservatives get their act together we can change election results. Did we win?? Yes and no. We lost the election but won the battle against the GOP establishment.

I do think that the GOP should be the “Big Tent” Party. I do not think that we should kick out every Moderate republican, we need them in the whole scheme of things. But as a whole the GOP needs to listen to the base instead of always thinking the Moderate candidate is the best way to go. NY 23 is a Conservative district and Dede Scozzafava was not the person to pick. She was a Liberal Moderate in a a Conservative district. Bill Owens is more likely more Conservative than she is.

So overall I think this should be considered a win for the Conservative Movement. We are not going to be able to win overnight these are baby steps in bringing some sanity back in government. And hopefully the RNC will at least not take the Conservatives for granite anymore and start listening to us.

I am reporting myself

OK , for all of Obama’s blunders and naivete of foreign policy and basic economics, I can give him some slack.   But when you have any administration snitch on fellow citizens, there is a cause to be alarmed.    What is the purpose of gathering opposition to the Obamacare Bill.   How are they going to use this information and who is going to see it.   And is this even Constitutional???   I disagree with almost all of Obama’s policies, and that is just the American way.   We will always have disagreements on policy, foreign affairs, and how the government should be run.  And each side has their strength and weaknesses, but we should all debate that.   But having a snitch line on the opposition is going too far.

There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care.  These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation.  Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov.

OK I will Bite

To Whom it may concern,

I am a citizen of the United States and I have some questions on what is the goal in this email program.   First, what is the objective of gathering this information????   Second , who is going to see this information????  Third, is there going to be an online site with the information that is collected????

As a citizen of this country I think that these questions should be answered.   This is not a Republican/Democrat or a Conservative/Liberal argument.  This is a question of why the present Administration wants to have people snitch on their fellow citizens to an authority that we have no idea what it will be used for.   I would be appalled at any administration that does this, this is affront to our  1st Amendment Right.  Will I have to wonder if someone sent me into the Administration if I have any kind of disagreement of the Administrations policies in the future.

When will the IL GOP get it

I know that Illinois is a Liberal state and will mainly be run by Democrats and Liberal Republicans.   But when you are the GOP and kick out a Conservative candidate because a established Republican is scared of his presence, then you have got troubles and will not learn anything that is going on in the grass roots of the Conservative Movement and will loose many of those that are natural GOP voters.   I know many Conservatives that are very upset with the GOP in Illinois, and around the whole country in general.   The elite that runs most of the Republican Party are loosing many Conservatives, and the last 2 elections should have been a warning.   But I am afraid that the GOP will go business as usual and will not hear the Conservatives in the Party and will keep on forcing Liberal and Moderate candidates on us, and will loose more support from the Conservative Wing of the Party.  Look at Ron Paul and his following, even though I do not like him, you have to respect his following and the enthusiasm that his supporters give to him.   I do not see that in most of the GOP.   We have had many lackluster candidates lately and the results in  the past few elections have shown this.   The GOP needs to start listening more to the Grass Root Conservatives, or they will be on the loosing side more often.

Take this as an example of where the GOP Leadership has lost its way, and is not the Big Tent Party, especially in Illinois.  I got this from a friend in Chicago.

Republican candidate banned from Lake County Fair

(What follows is the text of an email I shared with my supporters today.)

My dear friends,

I’m sorry to be cluttering your inboxes again so soon, but I wanted you hear what happened today in my campaign to unseat the RINO Sandy Cole. Following up yesterday’s message (quoted below) in which I told you that I planned to be at the Lake County Fair, I wanted to tell you about the funny thing that happened to me at the fair:

I was kicked out of the Republican booth.

Traditionally, the Republican booth at the Lake County Fair has been a place where all Republican candidates have been welcome to present their information and make contact with the voters. Even primary challengers to Republican incumbents have historically been welcomed there.

No more.

Two hours after I arrived at the booth this morning, with no warning, after no incident, I was informed by Avon Township Chairman Bob Powers that “[Lake County GOP Chairman] Dan [Venturi] says no candidates, elected officials only.” He handed me my small stack of handbills, the only materials I had placed on the table. I pointed out to him that only 8 days earlier, at last Monday’s meeting of the Lake County GOP central committee, he had himself announced that candidates would be welcome. Mr. Powers told me that he had quit any organizational authority for the booth last Friday, and that it was Mr. Venturi’s project now. I left quietly without making a scene. I attempted to call Chairman Venturi, but was told he was unavailable, and would return my call later. Hours later, he has not called.

What happened in that two hours? Certainly nothing negative I did. Some of that time I spent in the booth, greeting and chatting with the few passers-by that stopped, and some of it I spent wandering the hall, visiting other booths to talk to interested people. I had nothing but cordial conversations with anyone. But during that time, someone called Sandy Cole, and she came personally to bring more campaign materials and displays, and then she called Dan Venturi, to demand that he kick me out of the booth. As I left, I noticed that the “Mark Kirk for U.S. Senate” signs remained prominently displayed.

I had already learned two things about fear in this race: 1.) Sandy Cole is afraid of me. Desperately so. The premise of my campaign is that an underfunded conservative can beat an incumbent liberal in a Republican primary. I believe I can. I think it’s evident that Sandy Cole thinks I can, too. 2.) The Republican establishment in Lake County is afraid of Sandy Cole. The things I have been told by people in the party who want privately to support me but who fear publicly to do so had led me to believe this, but this incident confirms it in my mind.

This is an important incident, and it will lead to important consequences for Sandy Cole and the Lake County GOP.

In the meantime, take note: there is no “big tent” GOP in Lake County. Standing up for conservative Republican principles against entrenched interests will not be tolerated by the party’s current elected leaders. But there is nothing protecting the party’s elected leaders from an influx of conservatives running for precinct committeemen, and then voting them out of office. If you’re reading these words, and live in Illinois, it’s time and past time for conservatives to take back the GOP.

And to the other reform-minded candidates, local or statewide, who might have planned to campaign here, be warned.

Why I do this

Well, if you haven’t noticed, I have not been posting too many actually political stuff for a while.  Mainly cartoons and cut and pasting news stories.  One of the reasons is that I have gotten more into Twitter, and it has made my attention span about that of a gnat.   Also I have been busy with other things not affiliated with politics or online stuff.   But I will try and get back to posting more of my thoughts and philosophy.

Why do this??? Well, i am a news and political junkie and have no kids.   So I have time to post here most every day, and also I got a job with a lot of  downtime, so I can play on the Internet a lot there.  But my main reason is that I want to get the message out that our country is going in the wrong direction.   The Federal Government has gotten way too large and affects our daily lives in ways the Founding Fathers would never dreamed of.   We have a tax system that stifles achievement and rewards those that mooch off of the government teat.   We have a government that is taking over the auto industry, health care industry and the banking industry.   All of which are incompatible with our Founding Document, The Constitution.

We have a political class that have forgotten who the real bosses are in our Democratic Republic.  The people have been left out and elitist in DC have taken over the ear of out politicians.  This is in both parties, not just the Democrats, the Republican Party is in many ways just as bad as the Democrats in ignoring the People.  We need to change this.

How do we do this??? If I knew the answer to that, I would be a billionaire.   Today we have a populous that is too interested in who is going to win the next American Idol, than who is in the White House, or in the Senate and the House.   We also have the politicians cutting out precincts that will ensure that they will be elected without too much opposition.   But we must get the attention of all the American Public, be it Republican, Democrat, Independent, Libertarian, Constitutional or any of the other minor parties that are out there.

What we need to do!!! We need to vote out all of those that voted for the Stimulus and Bail outs.  Most of them did not even read the bills.  And the latest tragedy in legislation was the Cap and Trade (Cap and Tax) Bill that is getting forcedthru the Senate now.   the House did not even read the bill as they did with the Porkulus Bill.  They could not have read it because it was not even written in its full form until 96 hours after it was voted on.  I do not even know if this is even Constitutional, even if it is, it is a travesty that is being forced onto the Next Generation of Americans.

Obama has already spent up to $13 trillion, and he will not just be able to tax the rich to get the money for all these programs.  And it will only destroy the economy into a Depression with the loss of jobs and capital for businesses to grow.  I know  we need to not let anyone slip thru the cracks, and must help those that are less fortunate, but we are doing it the wrong way.   Local and State governments and local charities are better able to serve those less fortunate than the bureaucracy of the Federal Government.   Money going into the Federal Government will only feed to more Bureaucracy and will not help anyone and will only give more power to the Government.

We need to slay the Beast of the monstrosity we call the Federal Government, and let the Free Market grow.   But we need to have some sort of controls on Capitalism.   Pure Capitalism is not the best way to go.  There needs to be some oversight so the little guy does not get tramples on.  But does that mean that the Government needs to stifle the growth of the Free Market??   No  it does not.  With some oversight and control over the Free Market we can get out of the Recession we are in now, but with more Government control, we will only prolong the recession.   Just look at FDR’s administration, his policies extended The Great Depressions for 10 or so years longer than it needed to be.

We need to get everyone involved and informed of what is going on.    A good way to do that is to have people join groups such as Americans For Prosperity, The Sam Adams Allance, or many of the other groups out there.  I named these 2 because I know them well and have been to some of their meetings.   They are Conservative Organizations with very Libertarian leanings, but do not get me wrong, they are far from Republican Partisan organizations.   Most of them are just as pissed at the Republican Party as I am in their elitism and total break from Conservative Philosophy.

But we need to break the apathy people have about government.  Too many think that they have no voice and can not change what happens in DC.  But many are starting to wake up.  The Tea Parties are just part of that awakening.  The Tea Parties are not affiliated with any party and are all organized by local people.  I saw all different kind of people at them and all are angry at what is happening in DC and government in general.   Most have never attended any kind of protest or political event in their lives, but has seen the Federal Government take over too much.   This all started with Bush and the Democrats taking over the Banks with the Bail outs, and the Porkulus Bill was the last straw.

I just needed to get that off my chest, since I have been incommunicado for a while.   And just to let everyone know I am not stopping the fight to get this country back on track.  I know that this is only beginning.   Just as the first Tea party was just a few that were fed up with England walking all over their Liberty.  But we need to start somewhere.   And I know that this will not reach every one’s ears, and some will scoff or denigrate me for my ideology, but we all have free speech, at least for now, and all want what is best for this country.   As a history major in college, I can see that we are heading in the same directions that we did in the early 20th century that led to the Great Depression, and if we do not learn from the past, we are doomed to repeat it.   And it is looking like we are not learning anything.

The Letter

I am not really a huge fan of Glenn Beck, so I missed him reading this letter.  But my good friend Skye posted it on Midnight Blue with the video and transcript if this letter.   This is the reason for the Tea Parties.  It has nothing to do with Liberal, Conservative, Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Obama, Bush or any one in particular.   They are all under the microscope with me.  Neither party really represents me or anyone, they represent themselves and their handlers in DC.  I am more aligned with the Republican Party, but lately it is hard to tell the Democrats and Republicans apart.  They are all trampling over that thing we Call the Constitution.  For far too long the American people have become complacent, we have let both parties erode the Freedoms and Liberty that was written by our Founding Fathers.   The Federal Government has become a beast and will not get any smaller unless we express ourselves in the voters box.   We have both parties cutting voter districts to ensure a monopoly on election day.  We have not had a Republican voted for any significant election where I am from in over 30 years.   This is not right, and it is not right if it is also dominated by the Republicans either.   Our voices are getting shut down by people far away from our communities, and tell our representatives what to vote for.   This is not the way the United States of America is suppose to be run.  We have gone offline and need to get the country back on track.

Read this letter and tell me that it is not you, or your neighbor or a family member.  We are all sick and tired of the BS coming down on us from DC.

What ever happened to that????????  We are run by car salesmen saying I will give you everything on a platter and you do not need to know what I am doing, and I do not even need to read what I am voting for.

I’m a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you’re willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I’m not a racist. This isn’t to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don’t you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don’t you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don’t trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we’ll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let’s have it. Let’s say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let’s just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I’m busy. I’m busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don’t want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we’re morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we’re so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn’t ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don’t care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

Kennedy Healthcare Bill Draft

Here is a leaked version of the Kennedy Healthcare Bill. Read it, I am sure that most of CONgress will not read this monstrousity.

If you listen to the MSM or the Left in this country, you always hear how mean and selfish Conservatives are.   We do not want to help the poor or various other inane reasons why we hate Black people and people less fortunate.   well, if you really want to know, Conservative is the best thing for all.   Free Markets and Liberty will always lead to a more prosperous country.   But if you look at what the MSM and Left, the only way you can get happiness is through the government.   This is the antithesis of what our country was founded on.  Individualism and Federalism were some of the main foundations of that Document that the Left think is a living document.

Each state would be its own entity and the Federal government would be there to protect the states.  Now the hand of the Federal Government is in our every day life and the Supreme Court has allowed the Commerce Clause to be used in ways the Founding Fathers never thought it should be used.  We have the Federal Government telling states that they will get money for projects if they jump through hoops to get them.

Somewhere along the way, the United States of America has lost its way and we need to get it back on track.  As in this video we see the Soft Tyranny poking its head into our country.

That is the Question??

I guess it is very hard to actually pinpoint where I lie on the political spectrum.   I think I am a Libertarian Conservative as my friend Snooper has posted about.  As many of us on the Conservative/Libertarian side see the GOP going more and more left every day and getting farther and farther away from the basic principles that had drawn us to the Grand Old Party.   I agree a lot with what Snooper posted, to a certain extent, I am not a really big fan of Ron Paul and his minions.   But there is much the GOP needs to address to get back many of the Libertarian wing of the party.   I do not think that in this day and age, a third party is a viable option, there is too many obstacles put upbut both the RNC and DNC.

So where does that leave us, the ones that tend to be a little more Libertarian and not as much just Republicans, but believe in principles and the Founding Father’s intent.  Make no mistake, both the DNC and RNC have amultitude of power hungry politicians that do not do what is best for the country, and do what they think will get them elected or the next donation.  They are mainly charlatans and none have a firm backbone or stand on principle.   I may not agree with all of Ron Paul’s ideas, but at least he stands by his principles.   Just look at Sen Specter.   In his speech he pretty much said that he changed party just so he would win the next election,  as he did in his early career by the way.

Again where does that leave us???   My brother worked for the IL GOP House many years ago.  And it pretty much made him disgusted with the whole political process.   Just think, “you never really want to see how they make sausage”.  And that is our political system.   Hate it or not.  That is what we have got.   We have too many that do not care and will only read a little here or there about what is going on in DC, and even less on what is going on in the local government.   Too many care about who will won the next American Idol or who gets kicked off of Survivor to carewhat is happening to our country.

What I  think we need is to try and get the Voters to actually give a damn about what happens.  Too many have lost faith in our political system and have just given up and could care less.  Apathy is everywhere,  and all theshenanigans that our trusted leaders do every year does not help.  The thing is how to get people more involved and motivated to look into what is going on around them.  I do not know exactly how to do that.  If anyone has any ideas , leave a comment.

And then we on the right side of the aisle seem to always fight and stab each other in  the backs.  I know that we need to have a big tent in the GOP, but does that mean that we should leave the principles of Limited Government, Strong Defense and more Liberty at the door???  The Libertarians fight with the Neo-Cons, the paleo-cons fight with the Religious Right.   This needs to stop, or we will be left so far behind and be walking the wilderness for a long time to come.    We need to find the things we all agree on and stop fighting about the minutia.   There is not going to be any Political Party or Politician that I am going to agree with %100.  And I doubt that anyone out there will find one that will.  So we need to join together and fight against the real enemy, the Left in this country that wants to drag America into a European Socialist state, which Obama has be doing at a fast pace.
