If you listen to the MSM or the Left in this country, you always hear how mean and selfish Conservatives are.   We do not want to help the poor or various other inane reasons why we hate Black people and people less fortunate.   well, if you really want to know, Conservative is the best thing for all.   Free Markets and Liberty will always lead to a more prosperous country.   But if you look at what the MSM and Left, the only way you can get happiness is through the government.   This is the antithesis of what our country was founded on.  Individualism and Federalism were some of the main foundations of that Document that the Left think is a living document.

Each state would be its own entity and the Federal government would be there to protect the states.  Now the hand of the Federal Government is in our every day life and the Supreme Court has allowed the Commerce Clause to be used in ways the Founding Fathers never thought it should be used.  We have the Federal Government telling states that they will get money for projects if they jump through hoops to get them.

Somewhere along the way, the United States of America has lost its way and we need to get it back on track.  As in this video we see the Soft Tyranny poking its head into our country.

Memorial Day

I know this blog is supposed to be about Reclaiming Conservatism, but I needed to post this here also.  This weekend is Memorial Day Weekend and Memorial day is on Monday.   People will be BBQing it up and having fun with friends and family.  But this is not just a day for parties and golf as I am going to do.   This is a weekend to pay tribute to our finest.   We must never forget it is the United States Military that protects our freedoms that we take for granite every day.   So over the weekend have fun and always remember those that lost their lives protecting us and the American Dream.  Also those that are out there now protecting us and are far away from friends and family in God Forsaken places.   They are truly heroes and need to be given all the respect for what they do and what they give up to be our front line of defense.   No matter if you are for the War on Terror or not, you have to give respect to those that protect your right to protest that War.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.

It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves under the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag….

THE STATUE

via email

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THIS IS? WHERE THIS IS?

THE STATUE

statue

This statue
currently stands outside the Iraqi palace,
Now home to the 4th Infantry division.

It will
eventually be shipped home

And put in the
memorial museum in Fort Hood , TX

The statue
was created by
an Iraqi
artist named Kalat,
who for years was forced by
Saddam Hussein to make the many hundreds
of bronze busts of Saddam that dotted Baghdad .

Kalat was so
grateful for the Americans liberation of his country;

He melted 3 of the heads of the fallen
Saddam and made the statue as a memorial to the American soldiers

and their fallen
warriors.

Kalat
worked on this memorial night and day for several months.

To the left of the
kneeling soldier is a small Iraqi girl giving the soldier comfort as he mourns the
loss of his comrade in arms.

Do you
know why we don’t hear about this in the news?

Because it
is heart warming
and
praise worthy..

The media
avoids it because it does not have the shock effect.

But we
can do something about it.

We can
pass this along to as many people as we can in honor of all our brave
military who are making a difference.

So
please pass this on!

The growing Piracy problem in Somalia

Over the past few years, pirates off the coast of Somalia have been getting bolder and bolder in their attacks.  the latest one was the taking of a Saudi tanker. The Malaccan Straights I still think is the pirate capitol of the world, but the coast of Somalia is coming up fast. Earlier This year, a ship containing who knows what, was captured by the pirates off the coast, and many died of unknown causes.  Russia, India, and the United States all have a naval presence in the area, but the piracy continues.

It is no wonder that the pirates are coming from the part of Somalia controlled by the Islamic Courts Union, an affiliate with Al Queda.  Obama and the next administration are going to have to deal with this.   This is disrupting trade, along with piracy off the coast of India.

Today’s pirates are no  different than the Pirates of the Caribbean or the Asians of the past.  They are in it for themselves and to get the most out of whatever they steal from the ships they take over.   This is going to have to havehelp from all over the world.  Just as the eradication of the pirates in their hay day.

US Admiral ’stunned’ by pirates’ reach

The top US military officer said Monday he was “stunned” by the reach of the Somali pirates who seized a Saudi supertanker off the east coast of Africa, calling piracy a growing problem that needs to be addressed. But Admiral Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said there were limits to what the world’s navies could do once a ship has been captured because national governments often preferred to pay pirates ransom.

“I’m stunned by the range of it, less so than I am the size,” Mullen said of the seizure of the Sirius Star Sunday by armed men.

The huge, oil laden prize, which is three times the size of a US aircraft carrier, was some 450 miles east of Kenya when it was boarded, he said.

That is the farthest out at sea that a ship has been seized in the latest surge of piracies, according to Mullen.

The pirates, he said, are “very good at what they do. They’re very well armed. Tactically, they are very good.”—BREITBART

Grass

While yesterday was Veterans Day, we were all thankful for all the soldiers, seamen, marines and sailors have done fort his country. They protect the freedoms we hold dearly and at great sacrifice.  Many leave famlies with young children for years, and leave family members and friends behind.  And all to protect our freedoms and to protect us from those that want to do us harm.  And all to often we forget that these men and women are human and have feelings and are longing for home.  I got this email from my mom about one soldier’s quest to bring some of home in a far off place.

I sure hope the picture will go through for you – of this Army soldier in Iraq with his tiny “plot of grass in front of his tent.  It’s heartwarming!! Here is a soldier stationed in Iraq , stationed in a sandbox.  He asked his wife to send him dirt ( U.S. Soil), fertilizer and some grass seed so he can have the sweet aroma, and feel the grass grow beneath his feet. When the men of the squadron have a mission that they are going on, they take turns walking through the grass and the American soil.

If you notice, he is even cutting the grass with a pair of scissors.  Sometimes we are in

such a hurry that we don’t stop and think about the little things that we take for granted.

Upon receiving this, say a little prayer for our soldiers that give and give (and give up) so unselfishly for us.

You don’t have to send this on, but gosh, who wouldn’t?

Always rememeber the little stuff and never forget to thank all those brave men and women for all their service to this country.   And never take for granite the freedoms we have because of these soldiers, seamen, maries and  sailors.   And always remember them, not just on Veterans Day.

Veterans Day 2008

Veterans Day 2008

Veterans Day Proclamation

October 31, 2008

A Proclamation by the President of the United States of America

On Veterans Day, we pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of the men and women who in defense of our freedom have bravely worn the uniform of the United States.

From the fields and forests of war-torn Europe to the jungles of Southeast Asia, from the deserts of Iraq to the mountains of Afghanistan, brave patriots have protected our Nation’s ideals, rescued millions from tyranny, and helped spread freedom around the globe. America’s veterans answered the call when asked to protect our Nation from some of the most brutal and ruthless tyrants, terrorists, and militaries the world has ever known. They stood tall in the face of grave danger and enabled our Nation to become the greatest force for freedom in human history. Members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard have answered a high calling to serve and have helped secure America at every turn.

Our country is forever indebted to our veterans for their quiet courage and exemplary service. We also remember and honor those who laid down their lives in freedom’s defense. These brave men and women made the ultimate sacrifice for our benefit. On Veterans Day, we remember these heroes for their valor, their loyalty, and their dedication. Their selfless sacrifices continue to inspire us today as we work to advance peace and extend freedom around the world.

With respect for and in recognition of the contributions our service members have made to the cause of peace and freedom around the world, the Congress has provided (5 U.S.C. 6103(a)) that November 11 of each year shall be set aside as a legal public holiday to honor America’s veterans.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim November 11, 2008, as Veterans Day and urge all Americans to observe November 9 through November 15, 2008, as National Veterans Awareness Week. I encourage all Americans to recognize the bravery and sacrifice of our veterans through ceremonies and prayers. I call upon Federal, State, and local officials to display the flag of the United States and to support and participate in patriotic activities in their communities. I invite civic and fraternal organizations, places of worship, schools, businesses, unions, and the media to support this national observance with commemorative expressions and programs.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirty-first day of October, in the year of our Lord two thousand eight, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and thirty-third.

GEORGE W. BUSH
